1Switch on YouTube Live once · can take 24h

On a computer, go to youtube.com and sign in.
Click Create (the camera with a +) → Go live.
If YouTube asks you to verify your phone number, do it.
If it says live will be ready in 24 hours, that's normal. Come back tomorrow for step 2.

2Four YouTube settings once · 2 minutes

Go to YouTube Studio → Go live → Stream.
Visibility: Public. (Unlisted or Private won't show on Dump That Fridge.)
Tick Allow embedding. (Without it, people see "Video unavailable".)
Turn on Enable Auto-start and Enable Auto-stop. (Then your phone's button is all you ever press.)
Audience: No, it's not made for kids.
Find Stream key → Copy. Send it to yourself (email or a note on your phone).

Your stream key is like a password. Anyone who has it can broadcast on your channel. Never post it, and never send it to anyone, including us. We will never ask for it.

3Set up your phone once · 5 minutes

Install Larix Broadcaster (free) from the Play Store or App Store. Allow camera and microphone.
In Larix, tap the gear ⚙ → Connections → + (new connection).
Name: YouTube. URL: type this, then paste your stream key straight after the last slash: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/YOUR-STREAM-KEY No spaces, nothing after the key.
Save. Make sure the YouTube connection is ticked (switched on).

4Find your Channel ID 30 seconds

Go to youtube.com/account_advanced (signed in).
Copy the Channel ID. It starts with UC and is 24 characters, like UCxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

The Channel ID is not secret. It's what puts your stream on our page. (Your @name won't work here, it must be the UC one.)

5Put your kitchen on Kitchen cam 1 minute

Kitchen name (shown on the site, e.g. "Adaeze's Kitchen") Your food's flag (optional) YouTube Channel ID (starts with UC, from step 4) What you usually cook (optional, e.g. "Sunday jollof") Your email (never shown. We send one link to switch your cam on)

I'll follow the kitchen cam rules below, and I understand my cam comes off automatically if viewers report it.

6Every time you go live 30 seconds

Phone on a stand, sideways, plugged into the charger.
Open Larix → press the big red button. Wait about 20 seconds.
You're on dumpthatfridge.com → Kitchen cam.
Finished? Press the red button again.

!Kitchen cam rules

Point the camera at the food and the hob.
Only people who've agreed to be on camera.
Keep your kitchen clean and your hands washed. People are watching.
No children on camera.
Nothing personal in view: letters, bills, your address, photos on the fridge.
Nothing but cooking. No selling on stream, no music you don't have the rights to.

Streams reported by viewers come off automatically, and that channel can't be added again.

?If something's wrong

Larix says "connection failed"	Check the URL: `rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/` + key, no spaces. Or YouTube Live isn't switched on yet (step 1, wait 24h).
People see "Video unavailable"	Tick Allow embedding (step 2).
Your cam says "offline"	You're not live right now, or the stream isn't Public.
No email from us	Check spam. Still nothing? Fill in step 5 again with the same email.
Want your cam off the site	Open the link in our email and press Take my cam off the site. Lost the email? Fill in step 5 again with the same email for a new link.
Stream key leaked	YouTube Studio → Stream → Reset stream key, then put the new one in Larix (step 3).
